Or you may have been playing tennis for quite a time, and then your ultimate goal may be to win a tournament. Professional tennis players ultimate goals would be to become number-one in the world. For you, winning a tournament may be your ultimate goal, in reality though ultimate goals require a lot of hard work to be achieved. Always keep your concentration on your ultimate goal; the time it takes for you to reach it will be worth the effort you have put in.
Your Long-term goals are the major steps necessary to reach your ultimate goal. If you are just starting out in tennis, trying to get the ball back into play may be a long-term goal that is needed for you to go further in your tennis development. You can then set another long term goal to help you understand how to beat your opponent in a tournament. Ultimate goals usually require achieving one or more long-term goals first. Your Short-term goals are the specific steps necessary to reach a long-term goal. To beat a rival, you may need to improve your fitness and foot speed.
